Most practitioners working with survivors of religious trauma or cult involvement have pieced their knowledge together from books, podcasts, and whatever they could find. It is not that the passion or commitment is lacking. It is that the training has not existed.
What has been missing is not more theory. It is the kind of in-depth, practical training that helps you know what to do in the session.
How to navigate the specific presentations this population brings.
How to work with the particular mechanisms of coercive control and thought reform at a clinical level.
How to be genuinely useful to the person sitting across from you, not just broadly trauma-informed.
What you need is to know what to actually do. What to ask and what not to ask. How to recognise thought reform in a clinical presentation. How to work with the grief of losing an entire identity, not just a belief. How to sit with ambivalence without rushing toward resolution. How to avoid inadvertently causing harm with the best of intentions.
The RTC Cult Recovery Training is being built to give you exactly that. Deep, practical, applied knowledge that translates directly into your work with clients, whether you are sitting across from them in your office or on a screen.
This is the training we wished had existed when we started.
What We Can Tell You Now
It will be self-paced, practical, and built for the realities of clinical work, not as a theoretical overview but as something you can draw on directly with clients. It will include survivor contributions. Whilst completed online, you will not working through it alone.
