Matt Glover (He/Him)

Matt Glover is a counsellor, educator and forest therapist dedicated to supporting individuals through the complex terrain of religious harm and spiritual trauma. He has spent years helping people reclaim their sense of self and belonging after faith transitions. Matt’s approach is rooted in compassion, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those navigating spiritual upheaval. Drawing on extensive clinical experience, he fosters safe spaces where clients can explore their stories, find healing, and rediscover personal meaning outside rigid religious frameworks.

Nicole Meyer (She/Her)

Nicole Meyer is a law student, survivor-advocate, and public speaker, using her lived experience to drive meaningful change in the way institutions, legal systems, and society respond to abuse. Her work is grounded in firsthand experience, bringing clarity, depth, and authenticity that resonates across diverse audiences. Nicole has been actively involved in advocacy both in Australia and internationally, speaking to the realities of surviving abuse and the complexities of navigating systems that are often not designed with victim-survivors in mind. Alongside her public work, she supports survivors both online and in person, connecting with individuals across Australia and globally offering insight, understanding, and a sense of being heard.

Steff Fenton (they/them)

Steff Fenton is a trans Christian writer, speaker, ex-pastor and friend with a mission to flip the harmful scripts on trans and gender diverse people in the name of Christian faith. Steff leads peer support groups for trans and queer people of faith, as well as training and resources for churches, chaplains, parents and communities. They are the author of "Gender Expansive Faith: How Trans Lives are Illuminating the Divine, Transforming Feminism and Ending Christian Patriarchy". They have been a pastor and chaplain, the manager of a state-wide LGBTIQA+ training and consulting service, and Director of a national LGBTIQA+ mental health service

Liz Cameron (She/Her)

Liz Cameron grew up in fundamentalist Christianity and was brainwashed into the JMS cult at age 18 in 2011. Since escaping in 2013, she’s worked on slowly rebuilding her life. While also helping to raise awareness of cults and assisting other cult victims. She now resides in Canberra and balances full-time professional work with cult awareness and advocacy, while also studying a psychology degree. In 2023, after flying to South Korea to film the documentary The Cult Next Door for Channel 7’s Spotlight program, Liz’s public profile grew as she began talking honestly on social media about the insidious nature of cults. In 2025 her memoir, Cult Bride, was published.

Laura McConnell (she/her)

A Truth 2×2 Cult survivor, Laura has spent 26 years in the anti-cult advocacy space, working with media, politicians, and frontline organisations to advance support for cult survivors and raise awareness for complex issues and patterns of abuse in coercive cults or high-control groups. Laura runs the “Truth 2×2 Cult Kids” podcast, and is a passionate supporter of intersectional feminism and women-led organisations.

Catherine Carey (She/Her)

Catherine Carey is a survivor-advocate using her lived experience of religious coercive control to drive meaningful change in the way institutions, legal systems, and society respond to cult harm. Her work is grounded in firsthand experience, bringing a depth of understanding that spans the personal, systemic, and political dimensions of coercive control. Catherine, along with her husband Ryan, is one of the driving forces behind the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into cults and high-control groups, the first time a state parliament has formally examined the methods and impacts of cults in Australia, and co-founder of Stop Religious Coercion Australia, a survivor-led advocacy organisation working across community awareness and legal reform.

Sarah Steel (she/her)

Sarah is the creator of Let’s Talk About Sects, an independent podcast that has been running since 2017 and examines cults, high-control groups and coercive influence. For the podcast she has spoken to dozens of cult survivors, and her work is focused on ethical storytelling that is trauma-informed and respectful of those sharing their lived experiences. Sarah is also the author of Do As I Say, has produced for ABC Radio National, and you may have heard her expertise on programs including All in the Mind, God Forbid, Studio 10, and Hack. She has spoken at events including a Modern Slavery Workshop for the NSW Anti-Slavery Commissioner at NSW Parliament House.

Aaron Kelly (He/Him)

Aaron Kelly is a former Senior Pastor within the Australian Christian Churches (AOG) denomination who underwent a radical life transition in 2020 at the age of 32 when he came out as gay. This resulted in a profound personal reckoning giving Aaron the courage to come out, a decision that resulted in the immediate termination of his pastoral vocation, excommunication from the church and community he had invested his life in. He has dedicated his time to advocating for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in faith spaces. In 2025, Aaron co-founded the Queerfully Made Podcast, a platform exploring the complex intersection of faith, sexuality, and gender. Through this work, he is dedicated to helping others who may be in similar spaces to where he once was find the hope, community, and courage required to live authentically.
