Practitioner Directory
Finding the right practitioner starts here
Cult Recovery Specialist - These practitioners have specialist training and knowledge in both religious trauma and the dynamics of high-control groups and cultic systems; including non-religious cults such as wellness groups, MLMs, political extremist groups, and therapeutic cults. They understand the specific ways coercive control, undue influence, and thought reform operate, and how recovery from these environments can look and feel different from other trauma. If your experience involved a high-control group of any kind, a Cult Recovery Specialist has the depth of knowledge to meet you there.
Religious Trauma Specialist - These practitioners have specific training and expertise in religious trauma and faith-based contexts. They understand the harm that can come from fear-based teaching, shame, purity culture, spiritual abuse, and the loss of identity, community, and belonging that often follows leaving a religious environment. Whether you've left a faith tradition or are still within one, a Religious Trauma Specialist is equipped to work with the particular complexity of what you've been through.
Religious Trauma Informed - These practitioners have a working knowledge of religious trauma and its impacts, and bring that understanding into their work; though it may not be their primary area of specialisation. This includes grief counsellors, general therapists, and others who regularly work with people navigating faith transitions or the residual effects of harmful religious experiences. If you're looking for support that acknowledges your experience without requiring a specialist, a Religious Trauma Informed practitioner may be a good fit.
